Nearsightedness

I can see close up but not far away

Are close objects seen clearly, but objects farther away appear blurred? If so, you are more, than likely, part of the 30% of the United States population with a visual condition know as nearsightedness, or myopia. In nearsightedness, the curvature of the cornea is too steep, or the eye itself is somewhat elongated, resulting in images being out of focus. LASIK corrects this condition by flattening the curvature of the cornea, which allows the cornea to focus images on the retina, thus achieving clear vision.
