Is my appointment covered under insurance?

Dr. Yankelove is contracted with most medical insurance and vision plans. To see if we are in network with your insurance plan please call our office and have your insurance card available 713-827-8311

How long will appointment take?

Comprehensive/ yearly exam approx. 1-1.5 hours
Brief Office Visit 30-45 minutes

Do I have to be dilated?

Dr. Yankelove recommends a thorough dilated exam once a year in order to examine your retinal health. There is an alternative to dilation available which is an Optomap® retinal exam. An Optomap® is a camera that is able to take a picture of your retina with little or no dilation. After the simple Optomap® picture is taken; Dr. Yankelove can interactively review the results with you. The Optomap® is typically not a covered benefit under insurance plans and those patients that choose this service will have additional yet minimal out of pocket expense.
